Common Warts

Uniquely frustrating, these warts grow as long, narrow, thread-like projections that stick out from the skin. They favour highly sensitive, delicate areas like the eyelids, lips, and neck, under the nose, or in the beard and can easily catch on clothing or jewellery.

Warts are small, entirely benign skin growths caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). They are incredibly common, and because they spread easily through direct skin-to-skin contact, they frequently pop up in clusters or re-emerge if left untreated.
They vary in appearance depending on the type, ranging from firm, rough bumps on the fingers to smooth, flat patches on highly visible areas. What Results Can You Expect?
Advanced thermolysis is incredibly fast and effective, but because it uses a targeted heat current to destroy the wart, your skin goes through a very distinct, normal healing process:
Immediate Post-Treatment: The moment the wart is treated, the surrounding skin will look slightly red, flushed, or mildly puffy—very similar to a minor insect sting. The wart itself will instantly look shrivelled or white from the heat.
Days 1 to 3: A small, firm, dark protective crust or scab will form directly over the treated area. This is exactly what we want to see. It is your skin’s natural bandage working to heal the tissue underneath.
Days 7 to 14: The scab will naturally dry up and flake off entirely on its own. Do not pick it! Letting it drop off naturally ensures the skin underneath heals flawlessly.
The Final Result: Once the crust clears, you will be left with fresh, beautifully smooth, wart-free skin. There may be a temporary pinkish mark where the blemish used to be, which will fade over the following weeks to blend perfectly with your natural skin tone.
Preparing for your Appointment & Aftercare
Pre-Treatment Pep
No Consultation Required: There is no need to book a separate patch test or consultation beforehand—you can book your treatment slot straight in.
Stop Over-the-Counter Treatments: If you have been using salicylic acid or other over-the-counter wart treatments, please stop using them at least two weeks before your session to avoid over-sensitising the skin.
Arrive Clean: Ensure the target areas on your face, hands, or body are entirely clean and free of heavy creams, lotions, or fake tan.
Post-Treatment Aftercare
Hands Off the Scab: A small protective scab will naturally form over the treated site. Leave it to heal and drop off completely naturally within 10–14 days to ensure the smoothest result.
Keep It Dry: Avoid soaking the area in hot baths, saunas, or swimming pools for the first 48 hours to let the healing tissue settle.
Gently Protect: Wash the area gently without rubbing, and avoid applying harsh chemical products, exfoliants, or makeup directly over the healing spot.
Will My Warts Return After Treatment?
Once a wart has been treated and broken down down to its base using advanced thermolysis, that specific growth is destroyed and will not return.
However, because warts are fundamentally triggered by a virus (HPV), if the underlying virus remains active in your system or is re-encountered through skin contact, entirely new warts can potentially develop in surrounding areas down the line. If you ever notice a new spot beginning to form, popping back into the clinic for a quick maintenance session will clear it immediately, keeping your skin permanently smooth and clear.

While smaller or newer growths often vanish after a single visit, older, larger, or deeply established warts may require a second targeted session to ensure they are entirely gone.
