How Are Blood Spots Removed?
Blood spot removal is one of the quickest, easiest, and most satisfying treatments I perform at our Ranelagh clinic. To safely clear them, I use Advanced Electrolysis—a precise, thermal method that seals the spot right at the source.
Using a specialised micro-probe no thicker than a single eyelash, a highly controlled pulse of energy is tapped directly over the surface of the blemish. This instantly causes the pooled blood within the Campbell de morgan spot to immediately coagulate, safely closing off the tiny, overgrown capillary network supplying it.
The bright red spot disapears before your eyes during the session, completely drying up and forming a tiny protective micro-crust. Over the following days, this naturally flakes away to reveal smooth, clear skin beneath. Because this target-specific method requires no cutting, scalpels, or stitches, the surrounding healthy tissue remains entirely untouched, ensuring a rapid recovery with zero downtime.

What Results Can You Expect?
The time it takes to fully clear depends entirely on the size of the blood spot, though smaller dots often vanish completely in just one quick session.
Tiny Red Dots: The simplest to treat. Each one takes just a second or two to cauterize and responds beautifully to a single visit.
Slightly Raised Spots (1–3mm): Still very straightforward, taking just a few seconds each to treat effectively on the bed.
Larger Spots (4mm+): These are more pronounced with a stronger blood supply. They take slightly longer to coagulate and may occasionally (but not often) require a quick follow-up session to fully clear. For these larger spots, a small, flat scab will form as part of the natural healing process, which flakes away naturally within 7 to 10 days

Pre-Treatment Pep
Clean Skin: Please ensure the body or facial areas to be treated are completely free of fake tan, heavy body lotions, or body oils on the day of your visit.
Loose Clothing: If you are having blood spots removed from your torso, back, or chest, wear loose, comfortable clothing to avoid friction immediately after treatment.
Post-Treatment Aftercare
No Physical Strain: Avoid the gym, heavy lifting, or intense sports for 2–3 days post-treatment. Physical strain dilates blood vessels and can force the sealed spot back open.
Hands Off: A tiny dark crust or micro-scab may form over larger treated spots. Let it flake away naturally within 7–10 days to ensure crisp, unmarked healing.
Keep it Cool: Avoid hot baths, saunas, and steam rooms for 48 hours to protect the treated skin.
Will The Blood Spots Come Back?
Once a specific cherry angioma is treated and the tiny vessels feeding it are successfully cauterized, that individual spot is permanently destroyed and cannot return.
However, because your body naturally develops these as you age—especially if you are genetically prone to them or regularly put vascular strain on your body—new, entirely separate blood spots can absolutely pop up in different areas over time. If you have multiple spots starting to appear, treating them while they are still tiny dots is the fastest way to maintain clear, completely spot-free skin.

No. Cherry Angiomas and Campbell De Morgan spots are 100% benign, completely harmless, and purely an aesthetic concern. They are simply clusters of overactive capillaries. However, if you ever notice a spot rapidly changing shape, bleeding spontaneously, or turning a very dark purple/black, you should always have it checked by a GP first.

Once the thermal energy successfully seals and destroys the specific vascular supply to a blood spot, that individual spot is permanently gone. It cannot grow back. However, treatment does not change your skin's natural tendency to form new spots in entirely different areas as time goes on.
