What is Syringoma?

Bumps under the eyes? Consider them un-bumped.

Syringomas are small growths that develop from the sweat glands (eccrine glands) deep within the skin's surface. They appear as tiny, flesh-coloured or slightly yellowish raised bumps that typically cluster in patches directly under the eyes, or on the cheeks.

While entirely harmless, they often resemble a permanent patch of goosebumps that cannot be hidden by makeup or resolved with traditional skincare products. Advanced Electrolysis targets these deep-set sweat gland growths directly, safely flattening the textured tissue to completely restore a smooth, bright, and youthful eye area.

Syringoma or Milia: What is the Difference?

Because both conditions appear as small clusters of bumps around the delicate eye area, they are incredibly easy to mix up. However, they are structurally completely different:

  •  Milia are tiny, superficial cysts filled with trapped keratin. They sit very close to the surface of the skin, feel quite firm like a tiny pearl, and look bright white.

  • Syringoma are permanent overgrowths of sweat gland tissue. They sit slightly deeper within the skin layer, feel noticeably softer, and match your natural skin tone or have a pale yellow tint.

Correctly identifying the blemish is vital because their structural depth means they require entirely different technical settings during clearance.

How the Treatment Works

Syringomas respond exceptionally well to Advanced Electrolysis. Using a specialised micro-probe no thicker than an eyelash, a precisely controlled pulse of thermal energy is applied directly into each individual bump. This safely breaks down the underlying sweat gland tissue without disrupting the surrounding skin surface.

This is a highly meticulous, non-surgical process that involves zero lasers, aggressive chemicals, freezing agents, or incisions, making it safe for the delicate skin surrounding the eyes.

What Results Can You Expect?

Advanced Electrolysis is the most effective cosmetic treatment available for flattening Syringoma, delivering a remarkable long-term improvement to your skin texture:

  • Immediate Post-Treatment: The treated area will look pink, flushed, and slightly puffy, similar to mild heat bumps. This is a completely normal healing response and calms down within 24 to 48 hours.

  • The Healing Timeline: Pin-point micro-crusts will form and naturally shed over 7 to 10 days. The skin will continue to actively smooth out and blend in colour over the following weeks as the tissue fully regenerates.

  • Long-Term Maintenance: Because Syringomas originate from your natural sweat glands, they cannot be permanently cured, and your skin may naturally form new ones over time. However, the condition can be perfectly managed and kept completely under control with a quick, single maintenance top-up session once a year.

Preparing for your Appointment & Aftercare

Pre-Treatment Pep

  • Sun & Tan: Strictly avoid active sun exposure, sunbeds, or fake tan on the face for 2 weeks prior to treatment.

  •  Skincare Actives: Stop using Retinol, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, or any aggressive eye creams for 5 full days before your session.

  • Eye Makeup: Please arrive at the clinic with completely clean skin, entirely free from makeup, heavy concealers, or oily eye serums.

Post-Treatment Aftercare

  • Hands Off: Tiny, pin-point micro-crusts will form over the treated spots within 72 hours. Do not pick, scratch, or rub them. They must flake off naturally within 7 to 10 days to ensure a completely flat finish.

  • Keep It Cool: Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, heavy sweating, and under-eye makeup for the first 48 hours to protect the delicate tissue.

  • Sun Protection: Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or 50 daily. Freshly healed skin is highly vulnerable to UV rays and needs absolute protection. Use a gentle, plain soothing agent like pure Aloe Vera if the area feels dry during recovery.

Will The Syringomas Come Back?

Here is the honest truth: because syringomas originate from your natural eccrine (sweat) glands—which are a permanent, vital part of your skin’s anatomy—we cannot permanently change your genetics. This means your skin may naturally decide to form new ones over time.

However, that does not mean you are powerless against them. Think of it less as a "cure" and more like standard, routine skin maintenance. Once we flatten the existing clusters down using advanced diathermy, the results are incredibly long-lasting. Most of our clients keep their under-eye area beautifully smooth, clear, and perfectly under control by simply booking a quick, single maintenance top-up session once a year. Once you see how flawless the canvas looks without the texture, keeping on top of it becomes the easiest decision you'll make.
